On the 25th January the first event of the 2016 Digitising Europe Initative will start in Brussels.

EU decision-makers have called for a new discussion on how best to harness social benefits that Big Data brings while protecting the dignity and the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals.

On 18 January, the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communications publishes the results of an eight-country survey conducted by TNS of 8,000 Europeans on their attitudes to Big Data and privacy and the trade-off between societal benefits and risks.

This will be followed on 25 January by an event in Brussels in partnership with Data-Pop Alliance to explore the question:

‘Big Data: Key to the Future or the End of Privacy?’
